Welcome  to  Zhang Lab

Dynamic transbilayer movement of ions and phospholipids across cell membranes controls numerous cellular and physiological functions. My lab aims to understand the complex biology of membrane proteins that transport ions and lipids across the cell membranes in health and disease. Ultimately, I hope to provide new therapeutic strategies to target these transport proteins for the treatment of human diseases including but not limited to stroke, addiction, epilepsy, dyskinesia, tremor, ataxia, cancer, and various pregnancy complications that affect both mothers and children.
